What Is Lambda / O2 Sensor Off?
Lambda Off, or O2 Sensor Off, is an ECU software modification that disables the function of one or more oxygen (lambda) sensors—typically the downstream (post-cat) sensors. These sensors are designed to monitor the efficiency of the catalytic converter, but in modified exhaust setups (e.g., catless downpipes or high-flow exhaust systems), they often trigger fault codes and reduce performance.
Disabling the secondary O2 sensors ensures the ECU does not interfere with tuning due to misread emissions feedback.
Why Disable O2 Sensors?
When performance exhaust systems are installed—especially those without a catalytic converter—the downstream O2 sensors read abnormal values. This can result in:
